Imbolc
the halfway point between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox…

This Pagan ritual celebrates that the light at the end of winter’s tunnel might be within reach as the days grow longer.
That we’re at a turning point where the restrictions of winter can lead to a depletion of the systems- immune, nervous, respiratory, digestion- while the void of winter is still strong and deep, it’s not a time to be playing fast and loose with bad habits, so we reflect.
Collectively, the systems are surely breaking down. Collectively, there is a tightening. Many are learning how it feels to experience bodily autonomy as a condition or transaction, rather than an assumption. At Imbolc, we stoke our inner fire as a reminder of our true selves, as a means to stay resourced within, enough to notice what we are refining and holding on to, and what will be taken out to the compost. Enough to notice what’s happening outside of our bodies, and how to respond.

In tumultuous times, the inevitability of everything changing is the only hope that can pull me forward into the next timeline.
Here are some rituals to support us at this time:
1: Advocacy:
Go to 5Calls.org, type in your zip code, dial your representative, direct yourself towards voicemail or ask to leave a message and read this script:
Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from <TOWN>.
I’m calling to urge Rep. Edwards to push to defund ICE by opposing any appropriations bill that maintains ICE funding. This lawless agency is endangering public safety and must be held accountable.
Further, Rep. Edwards must support a standalone DHS funding bill so that funding for other government agencies is not held hostage during negotiations.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
IF LEAVING VOICEMAIL: Please leave your full street address to ensure your call is tallied.
2: Self-advocacy: Here are a few simple and accessible examples-
*journal about how the beginning of 2026 has been going and what you would like to see blossom this Spring
*place one hand on the belly and one on the heart, gaze at the moon or a candle while paying attention to the breath
*meditate on your intentions with a stone, and carry the stone around in your pocket
*work out
*phone a friend or family member
*make a nourishing meal and share with someone, find a new recipe if needed
*be gentle with others as you go about your day – offer something warm to someone who is cold –
